What is the elite education track in each country?

영국에서는 유치원을 다닌 뒤, 가장 좋은 코스는 사립 초등학교로 진학하고, 그 다음 사립 중·고등학교에서 A-레벨을 하고, 이후 대학에서 옥스퍼드, 케임브리지, UCL 같은 곳으로 가는 거예요.
So in the UK you would go to kindergarten and then the best would be then to go to a private primary school, which then you'd go to a private secondary school where you do your A-levels and then you go to university. So Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, a university like that.

중국에서 왔어요.
I'm from China.

쌍어 유치원이라고 중국어랑 영어를 같이 배우는 곳이 있어요. 독일어와 중국어를 배우는 곳도 있고요.
There is a bilingual kindergarten where we learn Chinese and English together. There are also places where you learn German and Chinese.

그 다음에는 국제중학교에 갑니다.
After that, we go to international middle school.

고등학교랑 나눠서 있어요. 한국처럼 과학고 같은 시스템은 거의 없어요.
Middle school and high school are separated, and China doesn’t really have science-focused elite high schools like Korea.

가장 유명한 대학은 베이징대학교와 칭화대학교예요.
The top universities are Peking University and Tsinghua University.

프랑스 서부에서요.
In the west of France.

유치원에서는 사립 유치원이 가장 엘리트 코스로 여겨지고, 초등학교도 마찬가지예요.
So for the kindergarten, I would say that the most elitist is a private kindergarten. And same for primary school.

중학교도 사립이 엘리트 코스이고, 이후 고등학교에서는 보통 이과(과학 전공)를 선택해요.
For middle school, I would also say private, and then for school with science major.

프랑스에서 가장 엘리트 대학은 경영대학인 HEC예요.
The most elitist in France is HEC, which is a business school.

콜롬비아에서 왔어요.
I’m from Colombia.

초등학교는 일반 교육을 받고, 그다음 단계는 ‘바이링구얼 학교’가 있어요. 이곳이 엘리트 코스로 여겨져요. 스페인어, 영어를 배우고 옵션으로 불어도 배워요.
Okay, for the first step is really general for primary. Then we have bilingual schools. This is supposed to be the elite one. You learn Spanish, English, and optionally French.

대학은 두 가지가 있어요. 국립대는 등록금이 싸지만 아주 좋은 학교고, 사립대는 매우 비싸지만 콜롬비아 최고의 대학 중 하나예요.
For university we have two. One is the National University, very good and affordable. The other is private universities which are very expensive and among the best in Colombia.

프랑스 파리에서 왔어요.
I'm from Paris.

사람들은 사립학교에 다니다가, 대학에서는 정치·경제·경영 관련 학교로 진학해요.
People go to private school, then after for university they go to political, economy or commercial schools.

파리 외곽의 ‘폰텐느’ 지역 학교들이 유명해요.
I think Paris suburban Fontaine is really famous.

라트비아에서는 유치원부터 초등학교까지 사립학교가 비싸고 엘리트 코스로 여겨져요. 중·고등학교는 ‘짐나지움(Gymnasium)’이라는 상위 학업 학교를 선택해요.
You can choose educational elite schools called gymnasiums.

대학은 라트비아 국립대와 리가 공대 두 곳이 최고고, 성적이 좋으면 등록금을 면제받을 수도 있어요.
About universities, we have University of Latvia and Riga Technical University, and if you have good exam scores you can study for free.

남아프리카공화국에서는 유치원부터 과학·수학 특화 코스를 밟고, 그 후 사립 고등학교를 진학해요.
From South Africa, kindergarten with specialized science courses and math, then private high school.

대학교는 케이프타운대학교나 요하네스버그대학교가 엘리트 코스예요.
University of Cape Town and University of Johannesburg are the elite universities.

이스라엘에서는 사립 유치원, 우수 초등학교, 그리고 중·고등학교는 함께 운영되고 리더십을 중점으로 교육해요. 그 뒤에는 모두 군대를 가야 하고, 이후 대학에서 진학 코스를 선택해요.
A private kindergarten to an elite elementary school, then middle and high school together focusing on leadership. After that, everyone joins the army, then university.

얼마 정도 하나요?
How much does it cost?

20만 달러 정도요.
200,000 dollars.

2천만 원 ~ 3천만 원 정도요.
Around 20–30 million won.

중국의 명문학교는 국가가 운영하는 공립이 많아서 오히려 저렴한 편이에요.
The prestigious schools in China have a lot of public programs, so it's cheap because it’s managed by the government.

약 6만 7천 달러 정도 들었어요.
I think it was about $67,000.

사립 유치원을 선택하면 한 달에 300~600유로 정도, 총 1만~1만5천 유로 정도 들어요.
If you choose a private kindergarten, it costs about 300–600 euros a month, around 10–15k in total.

유치원부터 대학교까지 합치면 총 5만9천 달러 정도예요.
From kindergarten to university the total cost is around 59,000 USD.

가장 비싼 건 대학 등록금이에요.
And what costs the most is the university.

3천만~6천만 원 정도요.
310–6000 (local currency equivalent).

영국에서는 약 30만 파운드가 들어요. 대학교는 연 9,800파운드, 사립학교는 연 1만7~1만8천 파운드예요.
It would be about 300,000 pounds. Every year of university is about 9,800 pounds, and private school is 17–18,000 pounds a year.

국립학교는 대학 전까지 무료지만, 최고의 코스는 사립학교예요.
If you go to a normal school in the UK, it's free until university, but the best track is private school.
